Derek Sanders
Derek Sanders is an analyst at NorthShore Capital Advisors. In this role, Derek constructs financial models relating to new and existing clients, as well as potential opportunities for the firm. He compiles and analyzes client financial data, conducts research on various companies and assists in the firm’s needs relating to new software including implementation and database administration.
Prior to joining NorthShore, Derek was a senior underwriter at FirstBank in Franklin, TN, where he assisted in creating a state-wide centralized underwriting division for small business and consumer loans. In this role, he was responsible for analyzing 40 small business and consumer loans per week. Prior to this position, Derek was a portfolio manager in the real estate finance department at FirstBank where he analyzed and helped transact more than 50 acquisition & development and 1-4 family residential construction line of credit loan applications ranging up to $10 million. Further experience includes an equity research internship with Brandenburg Securities in London, England and a marketing and business development internship with Digiscript in Franklin, TN. Additionally, Derek grew up with a family-owned business that involved ownership and management of commercial real estate properties throughout the Southeast and has used this experience throughout his career.
Derek earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Tennessee: one in finance with a concentration in information management and the other in marketing with a concentration in international business. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and from the University Honors Program. While at the University of Tennessee, he worked with a small, selected team through the university’s Finance Department to manage a stock portfolio for the TVA Investment Challenge program. He also gained extensive leadership experience through numerous leadership positions throughout his college career ranging from community service trips to student government to campus music organizations among many other activities.
Derek’s Northshore includes the ability to travel the world for extended periods of time and the means to generously contribute to his alma mater.
